Our lives changed when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was not able to work or care for our home or our then 12 yo son.

Being self employed our health insurance is not the best and is extremely expensive.

After the first week of chemo I developed an very large blood clot from my port down my arm. This put me in the hospital for treatment and then again when a small part of the clot traveled to my lung. The result is daily injection in my abdomen that cost approx. 3000.00 a month with out any insurance coverage! I have many other prescriptions as well.

Being in private practice for so many years, everyone believed we should just be fine financially. This is not the case when 1/2 your income stops and now you have to pay someone else to do what you do! In addition to the high cost of health insurance and healthcare treatments.

We looked for help and realized there was not much available for people in our position. So with the help of my family, we have developed a new foundation: Day By Day Hope Foundation. The purpose of our organization is to assist middle income and self employed families battling cancer!
