Resident Helps Connect Sandy Victims to Power Supply

A Deans Pond resident spurred by the calamity facing the Jenkinsons's Aquarium following Superstorm Sandy helped bring a call to action by Proctor & Gamble's Duracell.

Deans Pond resident David Ciccone was one of the lucky South Brunswick residents. After the destructive Superstorm Sandy left the entire township without power for weeks, Ciccone was fortunate to have his section of town regain power within a day of the storm. However, once his family regained power, Ciccone realized the full scope of the damage not only in South Brunswick, but throughout the state. "I couldn't get anywhere and I couldn't leave because Route 130 was blocked. I felt helpless and wanted to help," Ciccone said. "So I sat with my family and we tried to figure out ways we could try to help people hit by the storm." I Need My Penguin Space!

Jenkinson's Aquarium's new penguin exhibit is nearly five times larger than old one

Penguins need their space too and now they have nearly five times as much at Jenkinson's Aquarium. Jenkinson's recently completed a renovation and expansion of the penguin exhibit at the aquarium on the boardwalk, the first major renovation since the aquarium opened in 1991, said Aquarium Director Cindy Claus. Claus, who has worked at the aquarium for 21 years, having started as a curator, said the square footage has increased from 119 to 500 and the pool space has been increased from 1,100 gallons to 4,200.     How did the aquarium make more room for the penguins and their pool?
