Future of South Brunswick Girls Hoops Looks Bright With Brown

Amber Brown recently became the first middle school girls basketball player in South Brunswick history to score 500 career points.

This has been a season of milestones for girls basketball stars in South Brunswick. On Feb. 2, South Brunswick High School senior Danielle Padovano became the leading scorer in the 48-year history of the girls basketball program, breaking Jessica Mastronardi's (2006) record of 1,170 points. A few days later, a young middle school star showed the township why the future is still bright for the Vikings, even as Padovano and her classmates complete their final season for SBHS. On Feb. 6 against Salk Middle School of Old Bridge, Crossroads Middle School eighth-grader Amber Brown became the first girls basketball player in South Brunswick history to score 500 career middle school points. "It feels really great because it's a good ending to my …

South Brunswick Dance Team Rocks UDA Nationals in Florida

All four routines placed in the top ten.

The South Brunswick Dance Team made township history when they earned four top ten titles at the 2013 United Dance Association National Dance Team Competition in Disney World this February. "This is the first year we went four for four," said coach Regina Boudwin.  The team has qualified for nationals each year since 1995, with the exception of 2000, Boudwin explained. However the team has never had both routines for both Varsity and Junior Varsity make it to the finals, let alone place in the top ten.  "I think over the past couple of years we've started to have a steady build on the success of the year prior. We took just a greater leap than we have in previous years this year," she said.  Boudwin also credits the team's success to the …

South Brunswick Dance Team Again Dominates at Battle of the Northeast

The team earned three first place and one second place title for group performances, as well as earning the top three titles for senior solos.

The South Brunswick Dance Team flaunted their Viking spirit as they dominated the UDA (Universal Dance Association) Battle of the Northeast, a day-long competition hosted by the high school for junior varsity, varsity and college teams competing in jazz, pom and hip hop.  The varsity team earned a first place ranking with their jazz performance, wowing the audience as one dancer ran up the backs of her teammates like a staircase before flipping through the air. The Academy of Holy Angels placed first in pom, with South Brunswick coming in second. The JV team placed first in both jazz and pom with two energy-packed performances that had the crowd roaring.  In the senior soloist division, each dancer was challenged with choreographing his or…

Wall-to-Wall Soccer for SBSC 30th Kick Off Tournament

The South Brunswick Soccer Club held the 30th South Brunswick Kick Off Tournament during the first weekend of September.

They came from East Brunswick and Lawrence, Medford, and Voorhees, and all points in between just to play here, right in South Brunswick. It was wall-to-wall soccer last weekend as the South Brunswick Soccer Club and its teams hosted the 30th Annual South Brunswick Kick Off Tournament.   The tournament is one of the club’s signature events, and can only be held through the efforts of its many volunteers. This year saw hundreds of parents and players donate their time to make sure the event was one of the best ever. And if you can judge by the reaction of players and their parents, it was definitely worth all the hard work.
