With a blast of winter weather predicted to move into the region late Monday evening, NJ TRANSIT is taking proactive steps to minimize delays, ensure service reliability, and give customers additional travel options. Northeast Corridor trains will be running on a regular schedule effective Monday, Nov. 19. Certain NY-bound trains p.m. making stops between Rahway and New York will be canceled. Also, all but one NJ TRANSIT rail lines will be running full or modified service effective Monday including service along the North Jersey Coast Line, which suffered the brunt of the damage from Hurricane Sandy. Two more NJ TRANSIT rail and light rail lines will reopen on Wednesday, Nov. 7, according to the governor's office. The Princeton Line, also known as the "Dinky" will resume regular weekday service, and the Newark Light Rail will operate on a limited schedule between Grove Street and Newark Penn Station. NJ TRANSIT will resume service on four more rail lines on Sunday, according to the Governor's Office. According to a press release from the governor's office, the North Jersey Coast Line, Raritan Valley Line and Main/Port Jervis Line will all operate on limited schedules, and the Atlantic City Line will operate on its regular schedule. The Northeast Corridor Line resumed service on Friday on a modified schedule, stopping at all stops except for the Jersey Avenue station in New Brunswick. NJ TRANSIT has announced that rail service to New York Penn Station has resumed on the Northeast Corridor Line, but service on all other rail lines remains suspended due to a power outage and damage from Hurricane Sandy. According to the NJ TRANSIT website, the Northeast Corridor is running trains between Trenton and New York Penn Station on a modified schedule. Visit NJTransit.com to view schedules. The River Line light rail and the majority of bus service in New Jersey have already resumed. All other rail service aside from the Northeast Corridor line remains suspended until further notice. According to the website, rail passes are currently being cross-honored on buses.

More than 80 bus lines will resume service on Thursday in New Jersey.
NJ TRANSIT has announced that the majority of its bus lines will begin running on Thursday, as well as limited Access Link service. Gov. Chris Christie's office has announced that preparations have begun to potentially shut down NJ TRANSIT rail, light rail and bus service as of Monday, in advance of Hurricane Sandy. According to a press release from the governor's office, shutting down NJ TRANSIT services will take at least 12 hours. During the shutdown, all buses and trains will be moved out of areas at risk of flooding. The shutdown is precautionary, and it is still unsure how long service will be suspended for, the release said. Amtrak signal problems causing problems on North Jersey Coast and Northeast Corridor lines.
Amtrak signal problems have caused a series of delays and cancellations along the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast lines, NJ Transit announced on its Web site. Three Northeast Corridor line trains departing New York were canceled this evening. Other Northeast Corridor trains in both directions are experiencing 60- to 90-minute delays, according to NJ Transit.
