Dayton Man Found With Knife in Parking Lot of Vo-Tech
James Prendergast was found with a knife in his pocket, police said, but at no time did threaten or attempt to use it.
A 24-year-old man from Dayton, was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and disorderly conduct after police found him with a knife in his pocket at the parking lot of the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical School in East Brunswick, Friday, Jan. 21, at approximately 2:30 p.m. The man, James Prendergast, is a former student at the school and was allegedly seen putting the knife it into his pocket after getting out of his car, police said. Patrolman Kevin Bolch, who was working a security detail at the school, spoke to Prendergast and subsequently took him into custody after finding the knife in his pocket, police said. How big is his knife? I regularly carry both a folding food knife with w 3.5" blade and a utility knife (Swiss Army or Kamp King) with a somewhat shorter blade. I asked the South Brunswick Police if there was any restriction on my carrying them. They told me that knives are not allowed in the County courts, but mine were permitted around town.
