Bicycle-Palooza Coming to South Brunswick

Annual Tour de South Brunswick partnering with Pedals for Progress for charitable day of cycling.

Two of the township's most successful charitable events are combining forces this year to bring a day of bicycles to South Brunswick. On June 1, the South Brunswick Education Association's Pedals for Progress collection is partnering with the Education Foundation's Tour de South Brunswick to collect used bikes and funds for educational support in the district. Pedals for Progress sends used bicycles and sewing machines to developing nations to be given to poor people in need of cheap transportation to get to jobs, markets and schools. The donated bikes are auctioned off for a small amount, which is then used to operate a bike shop to handle repairs and maintenance. Those who can’t afford to pay for a bike can work off the fee in the bike …

Education Foundation Announces 2nd Annual Gala Fundraiser

Gala will provide food from some of Central New Jersey's best local restaurants, while honoring recipients of first South Brunswick High School Distinguished Alumni Award: David Bianchi, Gregory Halili, Stephen Portnoy and Anna Quindlen.

The Education Foundation of South Brunswick Township, Inc. announced its third annual, “A Taste for Education” gala fundraiser to be held on Oct. 22 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This event will be held at the Princeton Ballroom, Doubletree Hotel Princeton, located at 4355 Route 1 at Ridge Road. The event provides attendees a chance to sample food from some of Central New Jersey's best local restaurants, caterers, and wineries, and participate in silent auctions and raffles benefitting the Foundation.  Proceeds from “A Taste for Education” will support programs to enhance learning experiences of students and effectiveness of teachers in South Brunswick Township.  This year’s food and wine exhibitors include: Cedar Gardens, Central Jersey Catering…

Education Foundation of South Brunswick Awards School Grants

Various projects and initiatives to be funded by Education Foundation of South Brunswick Township, Inc.

The Education Foundation of South Brunswick continues to seek ways to provide educational support for students and teachers through programs and projects that fall outside of the district's operational budget. The foundation, which includes several former South Brunswick Board of Education members on its Board of Trustees, last year awarded two $2,500 scholarships to seniors at South Brunswick High School and awarded $5,200 in grants to district staff members for innovative programming. The Foundation has awarded over $10,000 to graduating seniors, donated more than $13,000 in teacher grant opportunities and $25,000 in technology upgrades to VTN.   At a meeting last month, the foundation announced the next grant recipients. The Education Foundation of South Brunswick Township, Inc. is proud to announce the establishment of a South Brunswick High School Distinguished Alumni Award.  The award is designed to recognize notable South Brunswick alumni who have contributed to society in an exemplary manner, and in doing so, have brought honor to the South Brunswick School District. By paying tribute to its distinguished alumni, the Education Foundation hopes not only recognize their achievements, but also to inspire current students and community members to consider their own contributions to society. Tour de South Brunswick Kicks Off Saturday

Annual bike ride and walk to raise funds for the Education Foundation of South Brunswick Township.

On Saturday, the Education Foundation of South Brunswick Township, Inc., is proud to present the 2nd Annual Tour de South Brunswick. The festivities begin at South Brunswick High School at 9 a.m. with registration beginning at 8 a.m.  There will be several new activities this year. Childcare will be available for potty-trained pre-schoolers of registered participants. Childcare will be provided by students and faculty from the SBHS Kids!Kids!Kids! program. Also new this year is the 2.5 mile Family Fun Detective Walk. Parents and children will seek out the answers to printed clues as they walk through a local neighborhood. Foundation Awards $29k Grant to Viking Television Network

Education Foundation of South Brunswick Township, Inc. provides $29k for equipment upgrades to VTN.

In its most significant grant to date, the Education Foundation of South Brunswick Township, Inc., agreed to fund a major equipment upgrade for the District’s television station, Viking Television Network (VTN). The first phase of the upgrade will cost $28,995, based on a formal estimate received from Varto Fine Arts Tech, Inc., of East Rutherford, NJ. VTN serves all schools in the District.  VTN also is being considered as a site for community broadcasts. It has been growing in its ability to feature K-12 programming. VTN broadcasts on Verizon FiOS, Comcast Cable and streams on the internet. The existing equipment has become antiquated over time. Second annual "A Taste for Education" fundraiser by the Education Foundation of South Brunswick will feature a wide variety of offerings from local restaurants, dessert and wine makers.

In a time of school budget crunches throughout the nation, the Education Foundation of South Brunswick continues to seek ways to provide educational support for students and teachers through programs and projects that fall outside of the district's operational budget.
