After years as one of East Brunswick’s most well-known businesses, the offices of the Home News Tribune on Kennedy Boulevard will close. In an announcement made in the paper and online, the newspaper, owned by the Gannett Company, announced that it’s East Brunswick location will close and move to Somerville. Paul C. Grzella, general manager and editor, said the move would not change the way the paper covers local issues. Here is the statement released today: The Home News Tribune offices will move to a new location later this month. Howard Grant has seen a lot of change in the movie industry during his time in the business. The owner of Mega Movies in the East Brunswick Square Mall, Grant opened his first theater in 1971, Movies 1 and 2 in Red Bank. After that he was the person running Movie City 5 in East Brunswick, which he did with longtime manager John DeNicola (who is still with him today). “That was a five screen theater. Back then, that was the most amount of screens anyone had,” said Grant. “People quickly surpassed that, but that was a big deal to have five. Gov. Chris Christie joined with officials from the Coca-Cola Company, and South Brunswick Township Council members, for a ribbon cutting on a new 226,000-square foot facility in South Brunswick on Tuesday. The shipping and distribution center, located on Deans Rhode Hall Road, will employ 500 to 600 workers. The South Brunswick facility consolidates the company's operations from Asbury Park, North Brunswick and Parsippany. The LEED certified facility boasts numerous energy efficient features and uses 20 percent less energy than the standard for new buildings, according to a company press release.
