It’s almost time to break out the matzo. Passover arrives on March 25 this year, when Jews across the world will come together to retell the Exodus story over four cups of wine (or grape juice for those who can't indulge), and of course, a large, festive feast. Passover Traditions As the story goes, during their flight from slavery, the Jews did not have enough time for their dough to rise, resulting in a flaky cracker that is eaten instead of bread for a full week during Passover. The diet changes go beyond bread, however, and depend on family tradition. As a general rule, just look for the “Kosher for Passover” label, which thankfully spreads to more products year after year. Purim carnival features bubble show, live music by the Baker Brothers, kid’s crafts and fun activities.

Chabad Jewish Center of South Brunswick will present their Annual Purim Celebration creating Jewish excitement and fun for the whole family. The entire Jewish community is invited regardless of affiliation or background. This year’s Purim around the world theme is Purim at the Sea, featuring Megillah Reading at 4 p.m. with a simultaneous slide show. Come dressed up for the Masquerade Contest in the costume of your choice. There will be a delicious Purim Buffet, including sushi, hamantashen, and many other treats. Fun and entertainment for the entire family will include a fabulous bubble show, live music by the Baker Brothers, kid’s crafts and fun activities. Jewish High Holiday Services in South Brunswick

Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur services in the township.

In anticipation of the upcoming Jewish New Year (Sept. 17 and 18), Chabad of South Brunswick has announced its High Holiday Services schedule.  This will be the eleventh year of Services for this growing organization. They will be "warm, friendly and traditional," according to Chabad's Executive Director, Rabbi Levi Azimov. Organizers say that last year's services were a phenomenal success, with large crowds in attendance. Unlike many congregations, membership is not required to join. All are welcome, free of charge, regardless of background or affiliation.  In addition, a special children's program will accompany the adult Services.  All prayers will combine the original Hebrew, as well as translated English. This, coupled with modern …

Chabad of South Brunswick Celebrates Lag BaOmer

Lag BaOmer is a festive day on the Jewish calendar, celebrated with outings, bonfires, and other joyous events.

Men, women and children joined Chabad of South Brunswick in celebration of Lag Bomer for an evening BBQ and Bonfire on the grounds of the Chabad Jewish Center on May 10. The celebration was organized by Rabbi Levi and Goldie Azimov and featured a drum circle with Terry Brown, live music by the Baker Brothers, a moon bounce, cotton candy, archery, snow cones, and the Kindling of the Bonfire by Sam Ravee. The event was enjoyed by all that attended. The drum circle was a real hit, and gave all the participants a feeling of unity and community. Lag BaOmer at Chabad of South Brunswick

Middlesex County to celebrate Lag BaOmer with cookout and more.

Chabad of South Brunswick will be hosting a grand Jewish community BBQ, complete with great food and drinks, grand raffle, archery, marshmallow roasting, moonwalk, games and activities.  The BBQ will be held on The Chabad Jewish Center Grounds, 1 Riva Avenue, on MAY 10, 6 p.m. as part of Chabad’s ongoing communal events. “Lag BaOmer is an enjoyable Jewish celebration,” says Rabbi Levi Azimov, director of Chabad of South Brunswick.  “It actually commemorates the passing of a great Jewish leader, Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, but is celebrated in a positive, upbeat way, as Rabbi Shimon willed it.” Lag BaOmer is a festive day on the Jewish calendar, celebrated with outings, bonfires, and other joyous events. Chabad of South Brunswick Explores Ancient Marriage Secrets

The Art of Marriage will go far beyond platitudes, to cover topics at the heart of modern marriage.

A provocative new series of classes on the secrets of successful marriage will begin the week of May 6 at the Chabad Jewish Center of South Brunswick. Regardless of marital status, all are invited to attend the six-session course, presented by the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI) and taught by Rabbi Levi Azimov.  Evening class will begin May 8 from 7:45 p.m. – 9:15 p.m. and morning classes will begin May 9 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The Art of Marriage will go far beyond platitudes, to cover topics at the heart of modern marriage. Chabad of South Brunswick held Purim festivities at Pierre's.

Chabad of South Brunswick celebrated the Purim holiday last week with a Russian style feast at Pierre's in Monmouth Junction. About 200 people joined Rabbi Levi and Goldie Azimov in an evening of celebration of the holiday of Purim, Russian style, which featured live music, dancing, kids crafts, Russian cuisine and more. This amazing event featured a reading of the Megillah by Rabbi Levi Azimov. Entertainment was provided by Arkasha and the Dancing Dog, music by the Baker Brothers, Kids Crafts, Russian Cuisine, and dancing lead by the Kazatzke Dancers.

"Loaves of Love," is a Mega Challah Bake for women.
