Pinewood Derby, Basketball Contest Highlight South Brunswick Weekend

Events in and around town this weekend.

Saturday

Cub Scout Pack 98 Pinewood Derby Races, Crossroads North Middle School Cafeteria, 7:45 a.m.

Each scout builds, paints and races his car against other scouts in the Pack. The winners have the chance to race in the district level in a few months. This is a fun day and a great opportunity to learn about scouting.

Winter Festival, The Learning Experience at Monmouth Junction, 12:30 p.m.

Face painting, raffle prizes, arts and crafts, music with Mr. Ray, and more. Come out from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Mr. Ray's performance will start at 1:00 p.m.

The Wonders of Winter Birding at Plainsboro Preserve, 80 Scotts Corner Road, Cranbury, 2:30 p.m.

Winter presents a variety of identification challenges for the birder.  Many of the birds we see
have recently arrived and are here only during the winter months. Join Associate Naturalist Vicki Schwartz for a fun afternoon in the field identifying some usual and not so usual suspects. Cost is $5 for non-members and $3 for members. Pre-register by calling 609-897-9400.

Knights of Columbus Basketball Free Throw Championship, Woodlot Park Recreation Center, New Road, Monmouth Junction, 3:30 p.m.

The Knights of Columbus, St. Cecilia's Council 7046 is sponsoring their annual Basketball Free Throw Championship for boys and girls ages 9-14. Please note that this is the first year boys and girls that are 9-years-old can participate. Please call Fred Gabriele at 732-274-9081 for questions.
