The Alzheimer's Association (Greater NJ Chapter) will give a free educational presentation entitled "The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease." Topics that will be covered will include the various types of dementia, risk factors, research, diagnosis, future planning and much more. The event is free, but pre-registration is required.

Book and Author Gala Dinner, South Brunswick Public Library, 110 Kingston Ln, Monmouth Junction, 6:30 p.m.
John Searles, author of the best-selling novels Boy Still Missing and Strange But True, will be the featured author at this year's Book and Author Gala Dinner brought to you by the South Brunswick Library Foundation. His newest novel Help for the Haunted will be out in September and everyone who attends this festive event will received a copy of the book at the dinner. For ten years, John Searles has appeared regularly as a book critic on NBC's The Today Show and CBS's The Early Show. He is also Editor-at-Large of Cosmopolitan. His essays have been published inThe New York Times, The Washington Post, The Daily Beast and other national publications.
This year, the fundraiser will be held in the Library starting at 6:30 p.m. with Hors d'oeuvres. There will be a buffet dinner served at 7:00 p.m. and the Author Presentation will start at 8:00 p.m. Dessert will be served following the presentation, when Mr. Searles will be available for book signing.
