Education Gala, Mars Madness at SBPL, Jazz Cafe This Week

Monday

Open House, 399 Ridge Rd. Dayton, 7 a.m.

Goddard School will be hosting a week-long open house, Oct. 28 through Nov. 1, where parents can attain information about the school. 

Education Foundation of South Brunswick - "A Taste for Education," Doubletree Hotel Princeton, Route 1 & Ridge Road, 6 p.m.

The event provides attendees a chance to sample food from some of Central New Jersey's best local restaurants, caterers, and wineries, and participate in silent auctions and raffles benefitting the foundation. Proceeds from “A Taste for Education” will support programs to enhance learning experiences of students and effectiveness of teachers in South Brunswick Township. 

Wednesday

Quilting with Friends, South Brunswick Public Library, 110 Kingston Ln, Monmouth Junction, 10 a.m.

The Quilting with Friends group will continue to meet the last Wednesday of the month in the library to work on your latest quilting project.  This will be a daytime quilting (and other sewing crafts) group for anyone who already knows how to quilt and would like to get out and visit with friends while sewing.

Come to the Grover's Mill Cafe in the library tonight for a talk commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the War of the Worlds broadcast for which the cafe is named. Frank O'Brien - NJ Solar System Abassador and author of "The Apollo Guidance Computer" - will be talking about the 50 year long invasion by Earthlings of Mars - He speaks about what we have learned from our research on Mars and what the future holds for Mars.

South Brunswick Jazz Cafe with Shikantaza, South Brunswick Municipal Complex, 540 Route 522, Monmouth Junction, 8 p.m.

Treat yourself to an evening of hidden gems from the

Great American Songbook, along with original and esoteric works performed by the jazz trio SHIKANTAZA, featuring Doug Miller on piano, Bernhard Geiger on acoustic bass, Brandon Lewin on percussion, and special guests Lori Pantaleo, Tanya Saunders, and Robert Bullington, vocals.
