St. Cecilia’s Drive to Benefit Citizens with Disabilities

Knights of Columbus accepting donations this weekend to benefit the community's intellectually disabled citizens.

Knights of Columbus St. Cecilia’s Council #7046 in Monmouth Junction announced it will be holding it’s annual Citizens With Needs Drive on Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April 29, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at various locations throughout South Brunswick.

On these days, members of the Knights of Columbus will be positioned in front of Pierre’s Bakery and Restaurant; Stop & Shop in the Summerfield Plaza; Rita’s, Subway, and Dunkin Donuts, Heritage Plaza, Route 1; and Dunkin’ Donuts on Route 522 accepting donations to benefit the community’s intellectually disabled citizens.

Specially marked Tootsie Rolls will also be handed out. All of the proceeds will benefit Citizens for Independent Living, Monmouth Junction, and the MacAuley School for Exception Children, North Plainfield.

Recognizing intellectual disabilities have no boundaries of race, religion or social status, the Knights of Columbus will donate their time and energy that weekend to raise awareness about intellectual disabilities and the opportunities everyone has to help others to live a life with dignity.

“Our local council would like to express our sincere gratitude to the community for all your past donations and look forward to your continuing support,” Grand Knight Manny Vitone said.

Greg Monticchio, event chairman, added, “Last year, over $3,000 was raised by St. Cecilia’s Council alone. Throughout New Jersey over $750,000 was raised. So when you see the Knights in their bright yellow and red aprons, please contribute to help those in our community with intellectual disabilities.”

If you are unable to provide a donation at one of the sites in South Brunswick, you may also send a donation to the Council.

The Council asks that you make checks payable to “Knights of Columbus St. Cecilia’s Council #7046.” In the “Memo” please write: “Citizens With Needs Drive 2012.”

All donations need to be collected by May 15, 2012.
