Skull Riders Run This Weekend for South Brunswick Marine

Benefit set for this Saturday to aid the family of Chris Molnar, a U.S. Marine who received a heart transplant after suffering a stroke.

South Brunswick's Skull Riders will once again answer the call to help one of the township's own this weekend with a special benefit run to raise money for the Molnar family of Kendall Park.

Chris Molnar, a 19-year-old South Brunswick High School graduate, Eagle Scout, and a Private First Class in the United States Marine Corps, is still recovering from heart transplant surgery and the family is in need of assistance with their medical expenses not covered by insurance.

Molnar graduated in June, 2012 from SBHS and entered into basic training for the Marines that August. After he graduated as a Private First Class on Nov. 16 last year, Molnar returned home to Kendall Park for a 10-day leave of absence before he was set to begin Marine Combat Training. But a serious medical condition prevented that from happening.

On Nov. 25, Molnar suffered a stroke and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors discovered he was in heart failure due to a fatally enlarged heart. Molnar received immediate surgery to implant a Ventricular Assist Device to keep him alive as he awaited a heart transplant, which was performed in April this year.

Molnar is doing well in his recovery, but the family is in need of assistance with the mounting expenses of transporting him to New York City for treatment on an ongoing basis.

The Skull Riders, a group of motorcycle enthusiasts from throughout the area who hold charity fundraisers for local families in need, will hold a poker run benefit for the Molnars on Saturday (July 13) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at VFW Post 9111 in Kendall Park, located at 11 Henderson Road.
