Knights of Columbus St. Cecilia’s Council #7046 in Monmouth Junction announced the “great success” of its annual Citizens With Needs Drive held last weekend at various locations throughout South Brunswick.

During the three days the drive was held, $3,253.00 has been collected and will benefit Citizens for Independent Living, Monmouth Junction, New Jersey Special Olympics, the McCauley House, and the Holy Cross Center of Learning.

During this past weekend, over 45 Knights and family members gave two hours of their time to collect from patrons of various stores in South Brunswick. Stores that participated included Pierre’s Bakery and Restaurant, Georges Road; Stop & Shop in the Summerfield Plaza; Rita’s, Subway, and Dunkin’ Donuts, Heritage Plaza, Route 1; and Dunkin’ Donuts on Route 522.

Manny Vitone, Grand Knight, said, “The charity shown so far by this year’s donors is gratifying. It shows just how caring the people of South Brunswick are, even in these tough economic times.”

Greg Monticchio, the Drive’s Director for the past eleven years, echoed that sentiment about the merchants who allowed the collections to take place in front of their shops.
