Hugs for Brady Family Fun Day on Saturday

Confectionately Yours will host the second annual event, featuring live entertainment, Irish dancers, the Hollywood Night Cruisers car show, a magician, carnival games, hair feathers, face painting, an obstacle course for kids and much more.

On Saturday, South Brunswick's Hugs for Brady Foundation will offer a day of entertainment for the entire family for a great cause. The second annual Hugs for Brady Family Fun Day will be held at , located at 3391 Route 27 in Franklin Park. 

The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature live entertainment with eight bands and DJ's, Irish dancers, the Hollywood Night Cruisers car show, a magician, carnival games, hair feathers, face painting, an obstacle course for kids and much more. 

, who died in July 2010 at the age of 23 months after a difficult battle with pediatric leukemia. Brady's parents, Mike and Sherrie Wells, of Kendall Park, started the charity with the goal of helping the Cancer Institute of New Jersey and the Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital (BMSCH) fight the ongoing battle against pediatric cancer.

The non-profit organization supports all causes concerning pediatric cancer, from buying custom built wagons, computers, televisions and video games for patients, to helping in the funding of financing a pediatric/hematology fellowship program.  The foundation is currently working to raise $300,000 to help fund a three-year fellowship.

Saturday's Family Fun will also feature vendors, such as Best Buy of South Brunswick, along with raffles offering great items that you can take home, and a tricky tray with unique items, including a suite at the Somerset Patriots for 30 people. Somerset Patriots mascots Slider and Sparky will also make a special appearance.

Family Fun Day will also feature:

  • A balloon release to honor kids with cancer and in memory of those lost.
  • A card making table to give to kids in the hospital suffering from cancer.
  • A food drive to help the local community in need after Hurricane Irene.
  • A blood drive because the blood supply in New Jersey is at an all time low.
  • A platelet drive to help adults and children with cancer
  • Special appearance by Buddy the blood drop of the Red Cross

To donate blood or platelets to the Red Cross please call Diane at (215) 528-2337. To donate blood to the Central Jersey Blood Center please call Jessica at (732) 740-1767.

Anyone that donates blood, platelets, or food will receive free raffle tickets for the tricky tray. Food donations are being collected in the blood drive area.

Family Fun Day will run from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Confectionately Yours.

All proceeds from this event will go to the Hugs for Brady Foundation, a 100 percent volunteer non-profit foundation committed to helping local children with cancer, one hug at a time.
