Drink Your Watermelon on Labor Day

Try these recipes for Watermelon Mojito and Watermelon Gin Fizz.

Watermelons are a staple of any good backyard barbecue.

But why stick to eating them or soaking them in alcohol? Try these new twists on a Labor Day classic with cocktail recipes from the Salt Creek Grille Princeton.

Instead of eating your tasty watermelon, you can use it to make a fun, fresh cocktail that is sure to impress your guests at this year’s big bash.

Here are two ideas for a Watermelon Mojito and Watermelon Gin Fizz, two recipes that will make watermelon the star of the show – for rum and gin fans alike.

Watermelon Mojito:

1 1/2 Bacardi Rum

1/2 oz Roses Lime Juice

5 Mint Leaves

2 Red Watermelon Cubes

1 Lime Wedge

Soda Water

Splash of Watermelon Puree

Muddle mint and watermelon cubes together.  Add a splash of watermelon puree and shake with Rum & Lime Juice.  Pour into a highball glass, top with a splash of club soda, garnish with a lime wheel.

Watermelon Gin Fizz:

1.5oz watermelon puree

2oz ounces hendricks gin

1 part lime juice

Splash of ginger ale

Frozen Watermelon or Lime wedges, for garnish

Pour watermelon puree, 2 ounces of hendricks gin, lime juice, splash of ginger ale and ice into shaker. Strain into a martini glass. Garnish with the frozen watermelon or lime wedges.
