After an extended layoff following the destruction of Hurricane Sandy, the South Brunswick High School football team will finally be back in action for the first round of the NJSIAA state playoffs.
The second seeded Vikings will kickoff Group IV playoff action against seventh seeded Hillsborough High School Friday evening at SBHS.
This will be the first game for the Vikings (6-2) since losing their second game of the year by a score of 28-14 to Sayreville on Oct. 26.
Dahrae Ford and T.J. Perkowski both scored for SBHS in the losing effort, as Ford finished with 11 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown. Perkowski added 54 rushing yards and one touchdown for the Vikes. T.J. Taylor notched 4 receptions for 46 yards for SBHS.
Hillsborough (3-6) and the Vikings didn't share any common opponents this year. The Raiders last game was a 33-21 loss to Franklin Township on Nov. 10.
The winner of this game will advance to the second round and face the winner of third seeded Old Bridge and sixth seeded Montgomery.
SBHS vs. Hillsborough will begin at 7 p.m. at South Brunswick High School, 750 Ridge Road in Monmouth Junction.
