Vikings Football Faces East Brunswick Tonight

Ranked top ten in the state, the South Brunswick High School football team will look to run their record to 8-0.

After dominating their final road game of the season, the South Brunswick High School Vikings football team returns home to the friendly confines tonight to face the East Brunswick High School Bears.

Last week, the to move to 7-0 on the year. South Brunswick again established a dominant ground game, with a total of 236 yards on 42 carries. 

Dion Hooper and Darrell Harper both scored two touchdowns in the win. Harper scored the first touchdown of the game on a run of 6 yards, and the last touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 6-yard run.

Hooper scored on a 15-yard run in the second quarter and a 38-yard run in the third quarter to power the Vikings. Dave Flanders also added a touchdown on a 10-yard run in the first quarter.

Hooper finished with 59 yards on four carries. Harper (7-33), TJ Perkowski 
(4-32), Dahrae Ford (6-29), Dan Gorzynski (4-25), Brian Lee (3-20), David 
Flanders (6-16), Azim Blakey (6-11), Dante Strickland (1-6) and Andrew Lee (1-5) also contributed to the win.

South Brunswick also threw for 78 yards, as Dan Gorzynski completed four of 
seven passes for 70 yards, and TJ Perkowski completed one of two attempts for 8 yards. TJ Taylor led the way with four receptions for 76 yards.

The Viking defense also shut down JP Stevens in the win, limiting the oppostion to a total of just 145 yards.

Isnard Merced and Alex Bercuta both had five tackles, including a sack 
each. Joe Pietrefesa had 4.5 tackles, and a sack. Dion Hooper (4), Jake Pietrefesa (3), Azim Blakey (2), TJ Taylor (2), Darrell Harper, Trey Taylor, Chris Molnar, Tre Tisdale, Bob Spilatore, Jesse Tainow and Rashaan Baker also had tackles for SBHS.

The Vikings will be looking to avenge one of their three losses from last season tonight, after losing to East Brunswick 24-12 last year.

Last week, East Brunswick fell to 0-7 on the year after getting crushed by Piscataway 58-6. SBHS defeated Piscataway 28-7 on Sept. 16.
