Vikings Baseball Clobbers J.P. Stevens

SBHS improves to 3-1 after back to back blowout wins.

The baseball team at J.P. Stevens High School may be seeing South Brunswick High School senior star T.J. Perkowski in their nightmares.

In back-to-back contests against J.P. Stevens, the Vikings senior torched the opposition during two blowout wins. Perkowski went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, three runs scored and one RBI in a 17-4 Vikings win on April 5.

Sean Keenan also collected two hits, three RBIs, and two runs scored, along with pitching the Vikings to the win by allowing two earned runs in four innings, while striking out five.

Dylan Olsson added three RBIs, while Nick Veglia, Jake Izzo and Chris Huber also added two hits each.

The following day in a rematch at SBHS, Perkowski went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored in a 13-3 Vikings win. Anthony Mastandino added two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored, while Veglia, Austin Morse, Scott Dunleavy, and Brian Oates added two hits each.

Mike DiIusto picked up the win with four strike outs in four innings. The Vikings now sit at 3-1 after splitting their first two games of the year with East Brunswick.

SBHS will be back in action on Tuesday against Piscataway.
