This past weekend, the South Brunswick Vipers won the championship game at Hillsborough's Last Chance Tournament.

Led by their ace, Harry Rutowski, the Vipers cruised to a 6-0 win over the Hamilton Lou Gehrigs.

"It was a great win for our team, coaches and parents, these kids work so hard and for them to win is truly rewarding, and shows that hard work and dedication really do pay off," said Manager Glen Marchese.

The Vipers were formed this spring by six families who were former members of the 2012 South Brunswick Vikings 12U gold team. Throughout most of the spring, coaches Glen Marchese, Bob Caimi, Rob Rizick, and Michael James worked tirelessly to put a team togother.

In the end, it all worked out for the best as the the Vipers were able to make the playoffs in three of four tournaments, including reaching the championship round in their first A tournament as a team in Branchburg earlier this summer.

Looking ahead, the Vipers are gearing up for an exciting fall season, which includes participating in the USABL Fall league, and playing a game at Waterfront Stadium, the home of the Trenton Thunder.

I guess all these kids needed was one last chance.
