South Brunswick Girls Basketball Advances to State Semifinals

Vikings will play Jackson at noon on Saturday with a spot in the Group IV state finals on the line.

The  girls basketball team continued their historic run in the state playoffs by advancing to the Group IV semifinals with a 45-32 victory over Marlboro last night.

SBHS was again led in scoring by junior , who finished with 20 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks to lead the Vikings to victory. Danielle Roberts finished with 8 points, 5 assists and 4 steals, while Ashley DeGroff chipped in 5 points and 6 rebounds.

. It was the third time South Brunswick defeated Monroe this season.

Third-seeded South Brunswick (23-4) moves on to play second-seed Jackson (23-5), who advanced to the semifinals with a 58-45 win over Freehold.

The Vikings and Jackson will battle to see who moves on to the state finals at noon tomorrow (Saturday, March 3). On the other side of the bracket, top seeded Rancocas Valley (21-4) will face fifth-seed Middletown South (18-5).
