South Brunswick Boys Lacrosse Returns Veteran Team
Vikings have combination of 20 seniors and juniors.
The South Brunswick High School boys lacrosse team had a good season in 2010. With most of the team returning, one could say the squad is also off to a good start in 2011.
South Brunswick finished 12-5 last year and went 6-1 in its division.
"We look to be highly competitive in the GMC and contend for the divisional and tournament championships," South Brunswick Coach Mike Ziminski said.

The team returns seven starters and a total of 18 players with varsity experience. Included in that group are 11 players who scored for South Brunswick last year.
Dom Violante, a junior, is the top returning scorer. He had 23 goals. Other juniors returning that scored are Kabir Golphin (a midfielder that scored a goal), Colin Quigley (an attack player that scored three goals), Joe Pietrefesa (a midfielder that scored a goal), Dan Gorzynski (a midfielder that scored two goals) and Matt Paradowski (an attack player that scored nine goals). Bryan Stonkus (defense), Alex Lorber (defense) and Anthony Cipriano also are junior returnees.

The top senior returning scorer is Matt Peterson, an attack player who scored 17 goals. Ryan Fraass (a midfielder that scored five goals), Anthony Guerrino (a midfielder that scored a goal) and Matt Goble (a midfielder that scored a goal) are other seniors that contributed to the South Brunswick offense in 2010.
Kenny Keenan, a senior, returns in goal. He had a 56 save percentage last year. Carlos Roman and Justin Berger are seniors that return on defense. Nick Ciabattone is a senior that plays midield.
"The 2011 team will have depth, so hopefully our competitive level will remain highly successful throughout the year," Ziminski said.
This is a very veteran group. Of the 21 players on the team, 20 are juniors or seniors. Shaun Sterner, a midfielder that scored five goals last season, is the lone sophomore on the team.
Newcomers to this team are Mike Baccio (a senior defender), Jevon Tyree (a junior midfielder) and David Flanders (a junior defender).
South Brunswick is scheduled to open what should be a successful season at home on Apr. 1 against North Brunswick.
"Our preseason has been tremendously productive so the coaches and team feel confident about the 2011 season," Ziminski said.
South Brunswick certainly has the experience and depth to be successful.
