SBAA Hosting Pitch Hit & Run Competition at Rowland Park

Talented local baseball and softball players will have a chance to advance through regional competitions to earn a trip to the National Finals at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in Kansas City.

Young baseball and softball players in South Brunswick will have an opportunity to show off their skills in April, while trying to earn a chance to compete at major league ballparks.

The South Brunswick Athletic Association and Aquafina will host a free Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Competition for area youth on April 15 at Rowland Park. 

Pitch, Hit & Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball and is designed to develop the love of the game in young kids. The free-of-charge grassroots program provides children with an opportunity to compete in a competition that "recognizes individual excellence in core baseball and softball skills."

Competitors are divided into four age divisions: 7- and 8-years-old, 9- and 10-years-old, 11- and 12-years-old and 13- and 14-years old.

Participants will have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, which include the Team Championships at various Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2012 Major League Baseball All-Star Game in Kansas City.

Individual Pitching, Hitting and Running Champions will advance. The All-Around Champion in each age group at the local level will also be awarded and advance to the sectional level of competition.

All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and fill out a registration and waiver form prior to the start of the competition.

The Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Competition will be held on April 15 at from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
