Sanu Picked by Bengals in 3rd Round of NFL Draft

South Brunswick High School star Mohamed Sanu was picked by the Cincinnati Bengals 83rd overall in the NFL Draft.

One night later, is a Cincinnati Bengal after all. The former South Brunswick High School and Rutgers University star was selected by the Bengals in the third round of the NFL Draft 83rd overall.

The pick came one night after call telling him he'd been selected by Cincinnati in the first round.

Peter King, of Sports Illustrated and NBC Sports, reported Sanu received a phone call from someone who identified himself as a representative of the Bengals. The caller told Sanu that Cincinnati was about to pick him with the 27th pick of the first round. The Bengals then selected University of Wisconsin guard Kevin Zeitler.

Sanu's agent Mike McCartney told NJ.com Friday afternoon that the caller was a Rutgers student playing a joke.

"I have tremendous respect for Marvin Lewis, who called this morning after hearing about the idiotic prank call to lend his support," Sanu's agent Mike McCartney tweeted shortly after the selection Friday night.

Sanu will now join a talented young team that went 9-7 in 2011 led by two of last year's top rookies, quarterback Andy Dalton and wide receiver A.J. Green.

"Thank God!! Im a Bengal for REAL!!!!" Sanu tweeted after he was selected by the Bengals.
