The East Brunswick boys’ and girls’ teams won conference championships this season by winning their respective conference tournaments, according to nj.com.
The East Brunswick boys defeated South Brunswick, 2-0, in the tournament final on Saturday at Woodbridge High School.
The East Brunswick girls defeated Old Bridge, 2-1, in the tournament final, also on Saturday and also at Woodbridge.
Both East Brunswick teams entered seeded No. 1 and didn’t allow a goal through three rounds of the tournament.
The South Brunswick boys came into the tournament as the No. 3 seed.
In the quarterfinals, South Brunswick downed Old Bridge, 4-1. Goals came from Tommy Dorsay, Kyle Goodwin and Harrison Kudwitt. Goodwin and Kudwitt each also had an assist. Goalie Erich Kaiser made seven saves.
South Brunswick advanced to the final with a 3-1 win over Edison. Jorge De la bandera led the way with two goals, as each team scored all their goals in the second half. Kyle Goodwin had three assists. Goalie Erich Kaiser made three saves in the win.
In the quarterfinals of the boys’ tournament, East Brunswick defeated Timothy Christian, 3-0, in the quarterfinals. Goals came from Keysean Brant-Sharp, Alex Mora and Luke Smalley. Brant-Sharp also had two assists. Goalie Dennis Kotenko made three saves to preserve the shutout.
East Brunswick advanced to the finals with a 2-0 win over Monroe. Both goals were scored in the second half, and came from Joey Gudzak and Alex Mora. Adam Rosa had an assist. Goalie Dennis Kotenko made five saves in the win.
In the final, East Brunswick scored in each half, with Keysean Brant-Sharp and Joey Gudzak accounting for the goals. Goalie Dennis Kotenko made five stops.
South Brunswick goalie Erich Kaiser made seven saves.
The South Brunswick girls advanced to the semifinals with a 3-2 overtime win over Monroe. Goals came from Cagnie Antczak, Taylor Brantley and Samantha Stojanovski. Goalie Sydney Schneider made five saves.
In the semifinals, South Brunswick fell to Old Bridge, 2-1.
In the quarterfinals, East Brunswick shut out Spotswood, 4-0. Sydney Rosa led the way with two goals, followed by Gabrielle DiLiberto and Carla LaRocca, who each had one. Kaitlin Roughan had two assists. Goalie Gabriella Benzillo made one save.
East Brunswick advanced to the final with a 1-0 win over Bishop Ahr. Gabriella DiLiberto netted the game-winner in the second half, with an assist from Katherine McCulley. Goalie Alex Kalafor made four saves.
Rebecca Michael scored for South Brunswick in that game. Cagnie Antzcak provided the assist.
East Brunswick fell behind, 1-0, at halftime in the finals. The Bears rallied with two goals from Sydney Rosa in the second half to pick up the win and the championship.
In the quarterfinals, Old Bridge defeated J.P. Stevens, 9-2.
