Defending Champion South Brunswick Opens Football Playoffs Saturday At Trenton

The South Brunswick High School football team begins defense of its title on the road.

The Vikings were seeded sixth in the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group V playoffs and open the playoffs on the road at No. 3 Trenton Saturday, 1 p.m., according to nj.com.

South Brunswick is 4-3 following a 35-13 loss to Sayreville last Friday. South Brunswick won the championship following a 10-2 season in 2012 with a 33-22 win over Manalapan.

Trenton is undefeated at 7-0.

The winner of this game plays the winner of the game between No. 2 Old Bridge (6-2) and No. 7 Hunterdon Central (6-3). They play Friday night, 7 p.m.

Manalapan is the top seed in the group with a 7-0 record. It hosts No. 8 Brick Memorial (6-3) Friday night, 7 p.m.

In the final playoff matchup, No. 4 Monroe (6-3) hosts No. 5 Sayreville (7-2), Friday night, 7 p.m.
