SBHS Project Graduation Hosts Record Number of Graduates

A record 584 students will be attending Project Graduation, held for the past several years at the Funplex in Mount Laurel

Today, the South Brunswick High School Class of 2011 will graduate from the Sun Bank Center in Trenton, marking the successful end of their academic careers in South Brunswick.   This important milestone will likely be celebrated in the coming days and weeks by family and friends at many gatherings and parties in the graduates’ honor.  There will be only celebration, however, to which all 680 graduates have been invited and encouraged to attend:  Project Graduation.

Project Graduation is an event that has been a South Brunswick tradition since 1992 and is held nationwide following high school graduation to provide graduating seniors with an opportunity to celebrate their graduation night in a safe, supervised, substance- and alcohol-free environment.

It is a time to be proud of past achievements, to be with friends and classmates, and a time to look forward to the future.  Project Graduation provides a safe alternative to party hopping – it keeps all of the graduates off of the roads, prevents any of them from becoming an accident statistic and allows their parents to rest easy, knowing their son or daughter is safely celebrating.

The event is organized and funded through the efforts of parents and local community organizations such as the South Brunswick Municipal Alliance and is offered free-of-charge to every graduating senior.

This year, a record 584 students will be attending Project Graduation, held for the past several years at the Funplex in Mount Laurel. The Funplex is a large recreational facility with both indoor and outdoor activities. There will be laser tag, arcade games of all kinds, bumper boats, go-karts, tilt-a-whirl, mini golf, bumper cars, bowling, free fall ride, and unlimited food and drinks all night.

The graduates are bused to Funplex from South Brunswick High School at 10 p.m. on Graduation night along with 30 chaperones and will return to the high school at 5:30 a.m., where they can pick up their diplomas before heading home.

An event of this magnitude requires a year-round fundraising effort in order to meet the needs of SBHS ever-increasing enrollment. If you are interested in supporting SBHS Project Graduation, whether with time or financial resources, please contact the Project Graduation Committee at South Brunswick High School, 750 Ridge Road, Monmouth Jct. NJ 08852.

Finally, please note that since it is a 501(c)(3) organization, your donation to Project Graduation may be tax-deductible.
