Middlesex County College has been recognized by Military Advanced Education (MAE) for a school that makes a special effort to accommodate men and women in uniform.

Middlesex County College can be found in the 2014 Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges & Universities, according to a press release from the community college.

“Our staff used strict criteria to evaluate the submissions of the respondents, and we had a record number of schools participating this year,” said Kelly Fodel, MAE’s editor. “We believe the Guide serves as an invaluable tool for both education services officers (ESOs) and transition officers when advising service members about their educational opportunities."

When weighing a college's military-friendly accommodations, MAE looks at things like its deployment policies for students and the availability of scholarships and financial aid, Fodel said.

“Our office takes pride in the work we do with our military-affiliated students,” said David Brimmer, director of the College’s Center for Veterans Services. “Our goal is to make sure they feel welcome on campus, have access to their educational entitlements, and to ensure they have a positive experience at MCC.”
