IACFNJ Donates $10k to Education Foundation of South Brunswick

Dinner, talent show and musical performances raise $10,000 for the Education Foundation of South Brunswick.

The Indo-American Cultural Foundation of Central Jersey (IACFNJ) and Tina’s Magic of South Brunswick held a dinner, talent show and musical evening at South Brunswick High School in Monmouth Junction on Nov. 12.  Attended by more than 700 people in a state-of-the art auditorium, the fundraiser was to benefit the Education Foundation of South Brunswick to help cut backs on school programs due to recent fiscal challenges.   

South Brunswick Mayor Frank Gambatese, South Brunswick Board of Education members Harry Delgado, Barry Nathanson and Deven Patel, along with local business entrepreneurs and community leaders like Sunil Nayak, Sanjay Naik, Anil Pate of ICS and other guests attended this event.  

The program started with a delicious dinner from Rajbhog Foods, followed by welcome speech by IACFNJ Secretary Dr. Tushar Patel, who welcomed everyone and provided a brief history of IACFNJ and its accomplishments.

A Diya lighting ceremony was performed by the dignitaries followed by the American and Indian Anthems, which were sung by two young girls.  School board officials Delgado, Nathanson, Patel and Mayor Gambatese received a check of $10,001 from the IACFNJ Executive Committee. 

The talent show was a showcase of traditional Indian dances, with a theme of Bollywood classical, semi-classical and fast pop songs. Approximately seven local dance group kids from 5- to 15-years-old with colorful and traditional Indian costumes performed on the stage for more than two hours, with lots of applause from the audience.

The highlight of the evening was two superb performances from Satrangi School of Dance and Mahin Master, New Jersey Boogie Woogie Winner. The South Brunswick High School youngsters gave a colorful performance of a fashion show with nice music.  

The evening was filled with entertainment, which lasted for more than three hours and ended with live singing by Hidden Gems, a local non-profit organization. 

Several vendors from an insurance company to a beauty salon sponsored the tables to support this fundraising event.

Mayor Gambatese addressed the audience by thanking the Indian community for their support for this fundraiser and congratulated everyone for their continued support. 

Mac Shah, Founder and current Treasurer of the IACFNJ, thanked everyone for their support and extended his appreciation to the volunteers and sponsors.
