SBPA Cultural Conversations Forum

On Wednesday, March 30th, 2011 the South Brunswick Parent Academy will host a forum entitled, “Cultural Conversations” at the Crossroads North Auditorium from 7:00-9:00 PM.  The agenda for the evening will include a look at changing demographics of the South Brunswick community with emphasis on those things that unite parents:  the hopes, wishes and dreams that all parents hold for their children.

South Brunswick Township is changing at an ever-increasing pace, a microcosm of the cultural changes sweeping across America. As the face of the community changes, it is more important than ever that the lines of communication remain open.   The goals for this workshop are to provide a forum for discussion, a chance to recognize and discuss the dynamics of diversity within the township and in doing so, encourage participants to come away with an enhanced sense of community and shared values.

The Parent Academy is pleased to announce that anchoring the evening will be Dr. Maurice Elias from Rutgers University.  Psychology professor, well-known speaker and author, Dr. Elias has presented and written extensively on the topics of emotionally intelligent parenting, social decision-making and problem solving for middle school students, and raising emotionally intelligent teenagers.  His most recent book, Urban Dreams, has just been published.  Dr. Elias, will do a take-off on this title, and make "Suburban Dreams” the focal point of his South Brunswick presentation.  Following his address, there will be a panel discussion, including a question and answer session open to all attendees.
