The next president of the United States could very well be a woman. And she could be creating that possibility at the “Alice Paul: Leadership Starts with Me” Boot Camp, to
be held Thursday evening, March 15, 2012, from 6:30-8:00 pm at the John Witherspoon Middle School. Directly following the event at the school, there will be a networking social for participants and their parents in the school cafeteria sponsored by Starbucks and House of Cupcakes, both of Princeton.

The YWCA Princeton in partnership with the Alice Paul Institute will debut the first of their new Leadership Boot Camp Series for teen girls ages 13-17. Recognizing that leadership skills developed early in life are critical to becoming an empowered
woman as she matures, all teenage girls are encouraged to attend. Girls will develop the positive skills and for leadership in their own lives. Girls who have a strong sense of themselves are less likely to be bullied or to become victims of abuse.

“Nurturing and teaching leadership to young teen girls is an important initiative for us and we are excited that the Alice Paul Institute agreed to present an interactive program focused on Alice Paul’s leadership style, particularly since empowering women is our mission” said Debra Raines, Director of Mission Advancement at the YWCA Princeton.

Alice Paul was the architect of some of the most outstanding political achievements on behalf of women in the 20th century. Born in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, Alice Paul dedicated
her life to the single cause of securing equal rights for all women. Raines added “We believe this engaging and interactive program from the Alice Paul Institute will provide teen girls a strong and effective platform for life.”

During the evening, attendees will experience “Alice Paul through the Lens of Leadership”, focusing on Alice Paul's leadership style and ways students can start developing their
own leadership identity. The 90-minute program, developed exclusively for middle and high school girls, provides participants with the message that a
leader takes action to create a positive change. The program also seeks to
redefine what makes a leader and to be more inclusive of all leadership styles.

The “Alice Paul: Leadership Starts With Me” Boot Camp marks the start of a new series at the YWCA Princeton encouraging young teen girls to find their voice, develop their personal vision, and to learn to lead from positivity in their daily lives. The next Leadership Boot Camp is scheduled for the fall.

Advance registration is required as space is limited and the event is open to teens across New Jersey. Participants can register online at www.ywcaprinceton.org/register
(class code #1040111) or in-person at the YWCA Princeton, 59 Paul Robeson Place.

The cost is $10 YWCA members / $12 non-members. The boot camp will be held at the John Witherspoon Middle School located at 217 Walnut Lane in Princeton.

For additional information on this camp or future offerings, contact Debra Raines, Director of Mission Advancement, at 609-497-2100 ext. 307.
