Free Workshop: Using the Sustainability Toolkit to Building Healthier Communities

  • The Citizens Campaign and Sustainable Jersey are hosting a free Central Jersey workshop to assist citizens pursue opportunities to improve the quality of life in their hometowns and to assist in improving the state’s environment.

  • The first workshop, “Using the Sustainability Toolkit: Building Healthier Communities will be Wednesday, September 21st at the Alexander Library on the Rutgers-New Brunswick Campus from 6pm – 8:30 pm. Free Parking at the College Ave Parking Deck.

    The first half of the workshop will be an overview of local opportunities for people to get results in sustainable initiatives they are interested in proposing within their community, followed by an interactive discussion with noted sustainability experts, including Chris Daggett, President and CEO of the Dodge Foundation; Donna Drewes, Sustainable Jersey; Councilwoman Pamela Mount, Lawrence Township;  Thuy Ahn Le of Hillsborough Green; and Louise Wilson, Former Mayor of Montgomery Township will moderate.

    Attendees to the workshop, will have access to ongoing mentoring and coaching by The Citizens Campaign, particularly ongoing assistance in serving on a designated local Green Team, recruiting people to join Green Teams and other local Environmental boards and commissions, and assistance in the presenting Sustainable Jersey model ordinances to hometown governing bodies and school boards.

    Sustainable Jersey is a certification program for municipalities that want to go green, save money and take steps to sustain quality of life over the long-term. It is endorsed by the New Jersey League of Municipalities.
