South Brunswick BOE Candidates Sought

Candidate kits available for upcoming November Board of Education election.

While election season is still months away, those interested in pursuing public office need to act.

The South Brunswick Board of Education has three seats open with three-year terms in the upcoming school election, scheduled for Nov. 5.

The seats of incumbent board members Daniel Boyle, Harry Delgado and current Vice President Deborah Taylor are up for re-election.

“I encourage legally qualified citizens with a sincere interest in the well-being of the community and its children to consider board of education membership,” commented Raymond R. Wiss, NJSBA president.  “Local boards of education make critical decisions on the policies that govern the operations of the public schools.  It is one of the most meaningful contributions that a citizen can make to his or her community.” 

Candidates can also obtain a “School Board Candidate Kit” online at www.njsba.org/candidacy. The kit contains directions to obtain and file a nominating petition, in addition to information about legal qualifications for school board candidacy and the role of the school board member.

The kit also includes background information about the New Jersey School Ethics Act and important dates in the school election process.

The NJSBA Candidate Kit includes a county-by-county listing of nominating petition information and access to downloadable petition forms.

Locally, anyone interested in running can obtain a Candidate's Kit from Marcia Garitano, Assistant to the Board Secretary, at the South Brunswick Board of Education office, located at 231 Black Horse Lane, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Candidates must file their petitions on or before 4 p.m. on June 4 to the Middlesex County Clerk’s office, at 75 Bayard Street in New Brunswick to qualify and have their names placed on the ballot.
