A Borgata official believes online gambling could realistically generate between $300 and $500 million, far short of the $1 billion projected by Gov. Chris Christie, The Press of Atlantic City reports.

Between the beginning of online gambling in November and the end of 2013, $8.4 million in revenue was collected, according to the report. Most of that was generated by the Borgata, Caesar’s and Bally’s.

The Borgata official expects revenues to improve when the marketing campaigns start take off, according to the report.

Seven of Atlantic City’s 11 casinos are allowed to run online gambling, and almost 150,000 web accounts have been created since the practice began in November, according to nj.com.
