How Mitt Romney Won South Carolina

The former governor lost the race for the White House, but gained more than 54 percent of South Carolina's votes.

Former governor and Republican nominee for president Mitt Romney lost the race for the White House by a landslide — based on electoral votes.

But in the popular vote, President Barack Obama narrowly won, 50-48, according to the latest figures. And Romney dominated nearly every Southern state, including South Carolina, where the GOP took more than 54 percent of the vote.

The heaviest Republican voting for president took place in Pickens, Oconee, Lexington and Anderson counties, where 65 percent of more of the votes were cast for Romney.

The only large counties that supported Obama were Richland, Charleston, Sumter and Orangeburg counties.

So many residents of our beautiful state see things through the WHITE EYE instead of the right eye

Obama has played the race card disgracefully to his advantage throughout his two campaigns. Did anyone see the video of him speaking to a predominantly African- American crowd and telling them that the slow response to Hurricane Katrina was racially motivated? "Where's your dolla?". I guess the liberal news wasn't too big on airing that because it didn't glorify him. He can do the Jesse Jackson/Rev.Wright rile em up speech pretty effectively when he wants to appeal to African-Americans. They eat it up. You talk about SC being racist, but it works both ways. He said he would bring us together in 2008 (speaking to a mixed crowd) and he said it again in his victory speech, but he doesn't care about African-Americans any more than he does the rest of us. It was always about him and getting elected and the second term which will be a rerun of the last four years. He didn't learn anything. He thinks we are doing fine. We are moving "forward". It's the same ole, same ole but this time he won't have any hesitation in implementing his socialist takeover of our country, not that he really hesitated much in bulldozing the Constitution and dictating his policies. The African Americans have a higher unemployment rate than Caucasians, but that doesn't seem to bother anyone as long as the foodstamps and welfare programs hold up. It's the most dismal way of running a government, but I guess it works for a about 50% of the people. It's a chicken in every pot campaign.

There are African-Americans I would love to see in the White House. His color has nothing to do with the fact that I didn't vote for him. On the other hand people have admitted they voted for him because he is African-American. There is a long list of qualifications that I consider before voting for a candidate and race isn't among them. He's our affirmative-action president which gives people jobs because they are minorities, not because they are qualified for the job. If you can honestly make a statement like that, you are not really aware of the countless legitimate reasons why someone would avoid voting for Obama.

Ralph, Your coworkers realize what Obama's reelection actually means for our country and you will have the same long face when you finally realize what a catastrophe his reelection is to America's prosperity. Romney believed in America, but I am not sure what Obama believes in. It;s not the America that we fought the War of Independence and continued to fight for throughout our history. This country was blessed by God from the beginning, but it has turned away from Godly principles into hedonism and every kind of Godless behavior that has brought a curse on us in the present day. Maybe you think this is a big victory, but I think you will come to realize that this is a dark day for all America and many have the ability to understand the negative impact this will have and are reasonably devastated. If you possessed the American spirit of patriotism that created this country and for which people laid down their lives, you could see it too. Unfortunately, you are living in a fantasy world where Obama is the hero. You can thank the one-world government for that.
