Harry Reid Taps Cory Booker As New Jersey's Junior Senator

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid predicts a Booker win in the U.S. Senate race during an interview on PBS on Wednesday.

By Keith Brown

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in an interview Wednesday predicted the election of Newark Mayor Cory Booker to replace the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg.

In an interview with PBS Newshour correspondent Judy Woodruff, Reid responds to a question about the lack of African-American Democratic members of the U.S. Senate by saying that Booker was ‘on his way,’’ and predicted, quite assuredly, his election in October.

“Well, just hold your breath,’’ Reid says. “Cory Booker’s on his way, from New Jersey. That’ll happen in October.”
