Virginia Man Charged for Transporting Half-Pound of Pot on NJ Turnpike

New Jersey State Police charged 26-year-old man with intent to distribute marijuana after traffic stop on NJ Turnpike in South Brunswick.

A resident of Virginia was charged in a drug bust after a traffic stop on the NJ Turnpike in South Brunswick.

Seth Chapman, 26, of North Chesterfield, Va., was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and driving while intoxicated after police allegedly discovered a large amount of pot in his vehicle.

At 3:40 a.m. on March 21, Trooper Steven Batista pulled Chapman over for failure to maintain a lane near mile post 77 on the southbound side of the turnpike. According to police, when Batista approached Chapman's Nissan Altima, he detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the car.

Chapman gave permission to the officer to search his car, which resulted in the discovery of a half-pound of marijuana, said NJSP Sgt. Adam Grossman.

Chapman was arrested and lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center on $10,000 bail, pending a court appearance.
