UPDATE: Police Identify Woman Killed by Train in Monmouth Junction as a 49-Year-Old South Brunswick Resident

South Brunswick Police and Amtrak Police had been working to positively identify the victim, who had no identification on her, since Feb. 18.

Authorities have positively identified the woman who was killed by a train in Monmouth Junction on Friday evening.  The woman has been identified by Amtrak Police as a 49-year-old South Brunswick resident.   A joint investigation by South Brunswick Police and Amtrak had been ongoing since the incident occurred last week.

At 7:34 p.m. on Feb. 18, police responded to the Northeast Corridor rail lines that run by New Road after receiving the call reporting a person had been hit by a train.  South Brunswick Police and Amtrak Police responded to the scene to determine what occurred.  The victim was killed on impact and she had no identification on her, said police spokesman Sgt. James Ryan.

Since that time, police were unable to positively identify the victim until yesterday.  On Saturday, police released some details of the victim's physical description and a photo of a ring worn by the victim at the time of the incident, in hopes the public would be able to help identify the woman.
