U.S. Marshals Capture Kendall Park Man Wanted on Murder Charges

Zaid Joseph is facing charges for murder, conspiracy, armed robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes.

A Kendall Park man wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a New Brunswick teen was captured by the U.S. Marshals Service last week.

Zaid Joseph, 21, of Kendall Park, is among five suspects who were indicted by a Middlesex County Grand Jury in connection with the fatal shooting of Joshua Zhou, 19, on Sept. 27, 2012, in New Brunswick.

Joseph was charged with murder, conspiracy, armed robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes.

Also indicted on the same charges were Michael Bailey, 21, and Dawonne Cooper, 22, both of New Brunswick; Jeffrey Andre Cook, 19, and Larry Pena, 19, both of Franklin Township.

Zhou was shot and killed in a Robinson Street basement in what authorities believe to be a targeted robbery attempt. Zhou was shot multiple times in the torso and pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital on Sept. 27.

Joseph was apprehended in Bronx, N.Y. after authorities obtained the address of an apartment where he had been staying.

All of the suspects remain in custody as they await trial, with no trial date set.
