Two People Suffer Critical Injuries in Ridge Road Crash

Jeep collides head on with SUV in front of Indian Fields Elementary School.

Two people were critically injured Monday evening after a motor vehicle crash on Ridge Road in front of Indian Fields Elementary School.

At about 7:15 p.m., a Jeep was headed west on Ridge Road when it struck a small SUV head on, according to police. The Monmouth Junction Fire Department responded to the scene and used the Jaws of Life to free the Jeep's occupants.

Both the driver and passenger in the Jeep, believed to be in their 20's, suffered critical injuries. The driver of the SUV sustained non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad and paramedics transported all three victims to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

Ridge Road was closed between Georges Road and Route 130 for several hours following the crash. The South Brunswick Police Traffic Safety Bureau is currently investigating the incident.
