TRAFFIC ALERT: Reminder to Residents to Avoid Route 1 Between Route 522 & Ridge Road this Weekend

Police are expecting traffic delays during overnight hours of Friday and Saturday.

Route 1 will see extensive traffic delays during the overnight hours this weekend. South Brunswick Police said roadway closures will take place Friday and Saturday for repairs. Much of the roadway will be closed and alternate routes will be provided, but residents are advised to expect traffic delays.

The repairs are being done to a bridge on Route 1 near the Dow Jones complex. The project has been going on for several months with minimal impact on traffic, police said. South Brunswick Police have met with construction and Department of Transportation staff to set up the alternate routes and extra officers will be on hand to assist motorists through the local detours.

"We are putting extra personnel in place to coordinate the different traffic pattern, but it would be best for motorist to avoid the area this weekend," said Chief Raymond Hayducka.
