Just after 4 p.m. yesterday, police received several 911 calls reporting gunshots in the area. Officers responded to the scene, where they found the victim sitting in a car with his wife at the South Brunswick School District bus depot on Henderson Road. The victim suffered four gunshot wounds to the groin and thigh area, said police spokesman Sgt. Jim Ryan.

Alamrin was apparently in the complex visiting his girlfriend, who lives on Sweet Briar Court, according to police.

"The victim approached (Alamrin) in reference to an ongoing dispute between (Alamrin) and the victim's younger brother," Sgt. Ryan said. "A physical altercation then occurred, which quickly escalated and led to (Alamrin) producing a handgun. One of the witnesses yelled 'he's got a gun.' The victim tried to grab the gun and was behind (Alamrin) as they struggled for the gun."

During the struggle, Alamrin turned his wrist backwards and fired shots that struck the victim multiple times, Sgt. Ryan said. While firing behind him, Alamrin also struck himself in the thigh.

"The victim was driven four blocks down (Henderson) road to the bus depot, where they called 911," Sgt. Ryan said.

The victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick by South Brunswick EMS and paramedics.

Alamrin was taken by his girlfriend to the same hospital where he told the medical staff that he was walking back from the store when he was jumped and got shot, Sgt. Ryan said.

"Further investigation, interviews with dozens of witnesses and physical evidence led us to believe that (Alamrin) is the shooter," Sgt. Ryan said.

South Brunswick detectives then linked the two men into the ongoing dispute. The victim has been released from the hospital, though one of the bullets remains lodged in his hip, police said. Alamrin was also released from the hospital before being arrested. He was taken from the hospital to South Brunswick Police headquarters at 2 a.m. Wednesday morning and processed.

Alamrin was able to post $100,000 bail bond and released. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Roger Tuohy, Detective Ron Seaman or Detective Jeff Russo at (732) 329-4646.

Police are still investigating the scene of the shooting for further evidence. Shell casings were recovered from the area yesterday.
