South Brunswick Man Critically Injured After Being Hit By Car On Route 27

At 11:20 p.m. South Brunswick Police responded to Route 27 near the entrance to the Kendall Park Post office for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Police continue to investigate a crash that critically injured a South Brunswick man Thursday night.

At 11:20 p.m. South Brunswick Police responded to Route 27 near the entrance to the Kendall Park Post office for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

The pedestrian, Ashok Prasad, age 60, was crossing Route 27 when he was struck by a northbound 2004 Honda Civic driven by Samuel Sperling, 23, of Fair Lawn.

Sperling stopped and stayed at the scene after hitting Prasad. Kendall Park First Aid Squad and paramedics rushed Prasad to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Prasad suffered life threatening injuries and was listed in critical condition.

The South Brunswick Police Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the crash. Indications are that Prasad was not using a crosswalk at the time he attempted to cross the highway. No charges have been filed
