A family of five remained displaced Sunday after a fire destroyed a South Brunswick home and three cars.

On Saturday, South Brunswick Police received a 911 call reporting a house fire at 6:51 a.m. at 306 Ridge Road near Route 130. Arriving officers and firefighters found heavy fire and thick smoke coming from the ranch-style home, police said.

The residents had made it out of the home uninjured.

Firefighters from Monmouth Junction, Kendall Park, Kingston, North Brunswick and Jamesburg Fire Departments battled the blaze.

The fire spread from the residence to three cars that were parked behind the residence, police said. Forty-five firefighters needed 30 minues to bring the fire under control.

There were no injuries reported.

Ridge Road was closed between Route 130 and Docks Corner Road for three hours as a result of the fire. The South Brunswick Fire Marshal and South Brunswick Police are investigating the cause of the blaze.
