Sober Driving Campaign in South Brunswick Leads to Several Arrests

"Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign results in eight arrests and 582 summonses issued.

The South Brunswick Police Department recently completed a late summer crackdown targeting drunk drivers, which resulted in several arrests and hundreds of summonses issued.

The “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign was conducted in the township from Aug. 17 to Sept. 3. The $4,400 grant from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration allowed police to put added patrols on township roadways.

The patrols netted eight arrests and 582 summonses issued. The arrests included three drunk drivers, three fugitives, and two people for narcotics charges. Motor vehicle summonses were issued for 16 motorists who were driving with a suspended license, 10 drivers for not having a license, and 65 people for driving carelessly, according to police.
