All traffic being diverted off of Route 130 south at Route 32

Route 130 south has been reopened after the roadway was closed due to a contractor striking a gas line with a backhoe, according to police.

The leak took place in front of Trumpf Photonics, located at 2601 Route 130 at 11:52 a.m. The Monmouth Junction Fire Department, South Brunswick EMS and South Brunswick Police responded to the scene, where employees of Trumpf Photonics were evacuated.

Workers from PSE&G were able to cap the leak in less than an hour, police said. No injuries were reported during the incident. Route 130 was shut down near the Route 32 intersection for over an hour.

A ruptured pipe in front of a business caused police to shut down the southbound lanes of the Route 130 near Route 32 Wednesday afternoon.

Police spokesman Sgt. Jim Ryan said an unknown number of employees were evacuated from the business for safety precautions. PSE&G has been notified and police are awaiting their arrival at the scene.

All traffic will be diverted off of Route 130 for an undetermined period of time until the leak is fixed.
