South Brunswick Police are searching for two male suspects who robbed a Route 27 business at gunpoint earlier this morning.

At approximately 10 a.m. two suspects, one wearing a red hat, entered the Radio Shack located at 3132 Route 27 near Henderson Road, and displayed a handgun to a store employee, according to police spokesman Sgt. Jim Ryan.

The employee was "roughed up" by the suspects during the incident and suffered minor injuries. Sgt. Ryan said it's not yet known how much money or merchandise was taken during the robbery.

The suspects fled the store out of the rear exit, and it has not yet been determined how they got away from the scene, Sgt. Ryan said.

Three schools, Greenbrook Elementary School, Brunswick Acres Elementary School and St. Augustine's of Canterbury School have been placed on exterior lockdown while police search the area. All school activities will be kept in doors while the search is conducted.

As of 11 a.m., one unmarked police car was outside the Radio Shack, as several South Brunswick Police vehicles could be seen patrolling the area.

The suspects were described by police as two black males, but no further physical description was immediately available.

This story will be updated as information becomes available.
