Pullman Loop Fire Displaces Family, Kills Pet

Sunday morning fire causes significant smoke damage.

A fire Sunday morning in the basement of a Pullman Loop home displaced a family and killed a pet, according to South Brunswick Police.

The fire was reported shortly before 9:30 a.m. Sunday at 15 Pullman Loop, when a resident who was home at the time the blaze started called it in. First responders arriving at the scene found smoke coming from the basement of the residence.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the basement, however the home suffered significant smoke damage, according to police. The family's cat died in the fire, police said.

The four people who live at the home were displaced, however police spokesman Sgt. Jim Ryan said one or two of the residents are college age and may not be currently staying at the residence.

Firefighters from Monmouth Junction, Kendall Park and North Brunswick, and township EMS, responded to the call.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is under investigation.
