Police Warn of Catalytic Converter Thefts

Eight vehicles have had their catalytic converters cut out during the overnight hours.

South Brunswick Police have identified an ongoing pattern of overnight catalytic converter thefts in vehicles located in large parking lots.

This month alone there have been eight vehicles that have had their catalytic converters cut out with a hacksaw during overnight hours, according to police. Each of the vehicles was located in a parking lot outside of a business.

The thefts have occurred from May 6 to May 29 thus far, with the locations including three businesses on Route 1, one on Route 27, and one off Route 130.

Police believe the converters are being sold for scrap. Anyone with information on the thefts is asked to call 732-329-4646.
