Police Searching for Suspect Involved in Carjacking at Holy Cross Cemetery

Suspect was last seen on foot headed south behind the Wawa at Route 535 and Deans Rhode Hall Road in South Brunswick

Both the South Brunswick and East Brunswick Police Departments are searching for a carjacking suspect who stole a car earlier this afternoon at a cemetery. 

At 3:19 p.m. South Brunswick Police received a 911 call reporting that a 2002 white Pontiac G6 was stolen at the Holy Cross Cemetery on Route 535. The carjacking took place in the East Brunswick portion of Holy Cross and the suspect fled from the cemetery in the stolen vehicle. 

Approximately 15 minutes after the carjacking occurred, South Brunswick Officer Dan Olsson located the stolen Pontiac in the parking lot of the WaWa at Route 535 and Deans Rhode Hall Road. South Brunswick Police spokesman Sgt. Jim Ryan said the suspect then fled on foot and was last seen headed south behind the Wawa in South Brunswick. 

The suspect is described by police as a black male, 5'09" in height, with a stocky build and in his late 20's or early 30's. The suspect was seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue gym shorts and white sneakers.
